Purpose-driven leadership
Surescripts is guided by a team of dynamic and experienced leaders, relentless about innovation and steadfast in our aim to make healthcare better, safer and more cost-effective. Meet our leaders.
Eric is a driven problem solver. At Surescripts, he channels that drive and his extensive experience in the healthcare sector to help us solve some of healthcare’s biggest challenges and pursue opportunities to achieve better, safer, more cost-effective care.
Eric joined Surescripts in July 2020—his second role as Chief Legal Officer for a health technology company. Prior to Surescripts, Eric led the legal and compliance departments of Inovalon, where he focused on data-driven healthcare. Before that, he served for a decade in a variety of leadership roles at Eli Lilly and Company, including as the first general counsel for the company’s new Connected Care & Insulins unit. Eric started his legal career as an associate at the law firm of Covington & Burling, where he began working with healthcare companies, and later became a partner in the firm of Baker & McKenzie.
As Chief Legal Officer, Eric leads the Legal, Compliance and Government Affairs teams as they work to identify, prevent, resolve and advise on how Surescripts conducts business in accordance with government regulations. Eric also enjoys the responsibility of being Corporate Secretary, planning and executing all meetings of the Board of Directors.
Eric’s curiosity about the world and passion for diversity and inclusion has led him to travel around the world, learn multiple languages and engage on refugee matters. He has lived in Hong Kong at two different points in his life. Eric strives to see different perspectives and help others do the same.
Eric’s wife is a physician for the U.S. armed services. They live in Washington, D.C., with their three daughters and adopted rescue beagle. Eric enjoys cooking, gardening, racquet sports, and playing games and channeling his creative side with his family.

Tara Dragert joined Surescripts in 2010 after seeing her colleagues make the move themselves. She started as a Senior Business Analyst, transitioned to various Product Manager roles, and finally climbed the ranks to become Chief Product Officer. In her current role, Tara leads all strategy, management, deployment and education across Surescripts’ portfolio of products. She is currently setting the groundwork for how Surescripts will innovate and serve healthcare over the next several years. Tara’s favorite aspect of her job is hearing stories from customers about how Surescripts makes their lives better, and seeing the next generation of leaders grow, develop and build their careers.
Tara has spent her career in healthcare technology serving the payer, provider and network industries. She has a reputation for peeling apart the layers of problems and opportunities in healthcare, identifying technology solutions, and continuously driving improvement and change. Before Surescripts, Tara worked at MinuteClinic and DeCare Dental in roles that focused on product, technology and operations. She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in economics and management information systems, and her MBA from Augsburg College in Minnesota.
Tara lives in Lakeville, MN with her husband, Dean, and two children, Alec and Shane. They have two Yorkipoos: Zoey (five pounds of rabbit-hunting ferocity), and Ozzy (not so bright, but very cute and cuddly). In addition to spending time with her family, Tara enjoys powerlifting and reading books on her Kindle.
When Jim Evans first spoke to the Surescripts team, he was struck by their optimism and enthusiasm. He quickly realized this was a company passionate about making a difference in healthcare—and he wanted in. Since joining in June 2022, Jim has worked with amazing people on fixing healthcare’s trickiest problems. As Chief Growth Officer, his team aligns resources as a customer-obsessed organization to achieve the seemingly impossible: making healthcare accessible and affordable for everyone in America.
Jim brings with him over two decades of leadership and consulting experience. This includes marketing, business and growth strategy for over a dozen Global 1,000 companies when he worked at Lotis Blue Consulting (formerly Axiom Consulting Partners), Cerenti Marketing Group, and Strategy& (formerly Booz Allen Hamilton). Jim’s illustrious career includes his time as Vice President of Network and Financial Management at McKesson Health Solutions’ ClaimsXten business, founding CEO of Socrates Analytics (a surgery performance software suite), Executive Vice President of Pharos Innovations and co-founder of WellSaid.ai.
Widely published, Jim has had articles featured in LinkedIn, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Becker’s Health IT, and Managed Healthcare Executive. He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The George Washington University and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
After falling in love with Hilton Head, South Carolina, Jim and his wife are now happy to call it home. When Jim isn’t working, he enjoys traveling—especially to Mexico. He once worked there for a year and loves the people, culture and food. He also loves being outside in the sun, participating in just about any (warm) outdoor activity. A warm beach and a Kindle full of books are his idea of perfection.
As Chief Information Officer, Mark loves being in the middle of healthcare, where he can positively impact virtually every step of the patient journey. Mark has always believed in the power of simpler, trusted health intelligence sharing, in order to increase patient safety, lower costs and ensure quality care. He continually strives to improve the resiliency and reliability of our technology systems and to leverage “the exploding volume of healthcare data,” both critical components of our mission to help deliver better healthcare for all.
After earning his master’s degree in artificial intelligence from the University of Pennsylvania, Mark brought his expertise to the healthcare industry. In 2001, he started RxHub, leading its IT build-out until 2008, when RxHub and SureScripts consolidated operations. Before then, he was a founding member of Abaton.com which was acquired by McKesson and introduced new technologies at United HealthcareUnited Health Group, where he holds a patent and numerous awards for expert systems. Outside of work, Mark serves on the NCPDP Board of Trustees, and is the Vice Chair of their Finance Committee. He also serves on the Argonaut Steering Committee, Da Vinci Operating Committee and the TwinCitiesCIO Advisory Board and is on the board of Ōmcare, a medication dispensing homecare system.
A proud “Hokie,” Mark was President of the Minnesota Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association for 20 years, where he continues to lend a hand to many community service projects throughout the year. He also enjoys cycling and hitting the open road each summer for the MS 150, a two-day cycling adventure from Duluth to the Twin Cities that raises funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Mark and his wife live in Minneapolis, taking advantage of their new empty nester status to delve into travel and the discovery of new hobbies. But in his heart, Mark is a lifelong beach bum and enjoys hanging out with family and friends on Topsail Island, NC.
