NeHC Selects Surescripts General Counsel/Chief Privacy Officer for Board of Directors

ALEXANDRIA, Va. and ST. PAUL, Minn. - January 29, 2010 -Surescripts, The Nation's EPrescription Network™, today announced that Paul Uhrig, general counsel, executive vice president of legal and finance and chief privacy officer at Surescripts, has been appointed to the National eHealth Collaborative (NeHC) Board of Directors.

"Both the team at Surescripts and our colleagues within NeHC share a collaborative goal of incorporating technology into health care to improve lives, increase efficiencies and enable a seamless and secure exchange of information," said Uhrig. "Being asked to sit on the Board of NeHC is truly an honor and I'm thrilled to join this panel of industry visionaries that share our objectives."

At Surescripts, Uhrig oversees all legal matters, finance, certification policy and compliance, internal audits and regulatory affairs.

NeHC is a public-private partnership dedicated to the creation of a secure, interoperable, nationwide health information network that will advance the American public's interest in health and improve the quality, safety, efficiency and accessibility of healthcare. The organization seeks out candidates for its Board of Directors that embody certain characteristics, including: demonstrated leadership in changing environments; skill at handling multiple challenges within a diverse organization; and exceptional visionary capabilities that allow for successfully facing the realities of today with the growth possibilities of the future.

The NeHC Board members are expected to:

• Fulfill fiduciary responsibilities and balance stakeholder interests
• Ensure that the organization has the resources necessary to fulfill its mission
• Provide thought leadership on industry trends and developments
• Participate in and/or chair periodic committee meetings

NeHC was developed through an open, multi-year, multi-stakeholder process and operates under a cooperative agreement with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), making it uniquely positioned to be the objective convener of stakeholders and facilitator of collaborative efforts to help shape the future of health information exchange.
