How it works for health systems

A prescriber writes a new prescription and the patient receives a Script Corner text.

Within a few minutes of being prescribed one or more medications, the patient gets a secure link via text.

The patient clicks the link to authenticate.

Patients verify identity and are presented with optional HIPAA Authorization upon their first visit to Script Corner.

The patient views and compares pricing.

The cost of the medication is displayed based on insurance, preferred pharmacy and GoodRx discount (if applicable).

Patients can then search for other local pharmacy pricing.

Patients can compare the price of their medication across multiple pharmacies.

Patients choose the price and pharmacy that’s best for them for each medication.

Their choice is sent to the pharmacy instantly, and at pickup patients already know the cost.

Do providers have to change their workflow when using Script Corner?

No, after a new e-prescription is written, a text message will automatically be sent to the patient—no extra clicks required. After a provider prescribes a new medication (or multiple new medications), their role is to inform the patient that they will get a secure text message to check, compare and choose a medication price.

How is patient support handled?

There is a Script Corner website with patient information at scriptcorner.com. We provide health systems with customizable patient materials for your team to use. This includes an introduction email template as well as patient brochures and educational sheets with support information to share with patients.

What phone and technology does the patient need to use Script Corner?

Patients need a smartphone that can send and receive text messages and has a current version of a major web browser (such as Chrome, Safari, or Edge).

How long will the patient have to respond to the text message and compare prescription prices?

We will hold the patient’s prescription(s) for 15 minutes so they can compare prices. After that time limit, prescriptions will be sent to the patient’s preferred pharmacy already in your system.

Will the price patients see in Script Corner be accurate to what they pay at the pharmacy?

Script Corner provides personalized pricing that will be reflected at the pharmacy the patient selects as well as the pricing information your providers see in their health record. Note that if prescription information were to change at the pharmacy, pricing may differ. Script Corner cannot guarantee pricing accuracy across all platforms/pharmacies. 

Are the pharmacy options displayed in a particular order?

Yes, the patient’s default pharmacy on record is displayed first. Patients can choose a different pharmacy at any time for any medication, even medications prescribed at the same time. Search options are displayed by nearest location.

Does Script Corner work with the patient’s GoodRx account, if they already have one?

Yes, if the patient already has a GoodRx account or subscription plan, they will be asked to authenticate with GoodRx to receive their savings. 

Is patient health information protected?

Yes, each time the patient clicks a link in a text message, their identity is verified to protect their privacy. Script Corner meets the highest level of information security and compliance standards set by leading privacy and security organizations.

How will Script Corner use patient health information?

Script Corner uses patient health information to show their insurance pricing. To provide discounts from third-party vendors (e.g., GoodRx), the patient must first agree to the optional HIPAA Authorization upon their first visit to Script Corner. The patient may revoke their HIPAA authorization at any time.
