Each year we recognize a group of Surescripts Network Alliance participants who exemplify their commitment to patient safety, raising the bar for performance, innovation and accuracy. The 2024 Surescripts White Coat Award winners are no exception.

This year’s winners include the following leaders from across healthcare:

  1. athenahealth
  2. Cleveland Clinic
  3. CVS Pharmacy
  4. DAW Systems, Inc. (ScriptSure)
  5. Epic
  6. Greenway HealthTM
  7. Hamilton Health Care System
  8. Lexington Medical Center
  9. SRS Pharmacy Systems
  10. Walmart

These organizations represent what it means to maintain the highest standards for accuracy, while adopting best practices and technology enhancements that ensure clinicians are equipped to provide quality, safe and effective care that their patients deserve.

The 2024 Surescripts White Coat Award recognizes health systems, pharmacies, pharmacy technology vendors and electronic health records (EHR) vendors that help deliver clear and accurate electronic prescriptions, eliminate confusion and time-consuming phone calls and faxes, and give patients better access to the medications they need.

This year, winners are recognized for excellence in three categories:

  • Highest Performance: best overall performance score across e-prescriptions
  • RxChange Champion: successfully advancing the RxChange transaction, which lets pharmacies communicate with prescribers to resolve prescription concerns within their electronic workflow.
  • Innovation: driving performance optimization across the healthcare continuum, ensuring prescribers and pharmacists can provide quality care to patients in a timely manner.

Meaningful Innovation Built on A Foundation of Trust

Each one of our winners should be proud of this achievement. Their efforts to prioritize accuracy and patient safety continue to build upon the trusted foundation of the Network Alliance.

“Our team at DAW Systems, Inc. is thrilled and honored to be recognized once again as a 2024 Surescripts White Coat Award Winner. Our mission is to continuously develop and enhance ScriptSure Cloud E-Prescribing, ensuring it remains a top-tier, user-friendly application with a comprehensive feature set for medical professionals and veterinarians. We look forward to our continued partnership with Surescripts as we work together to transform healthcare and drive the adoption of digital services.”

Adam Forman

COO, DAW Systems, Inc.

Looking beyond the metrics, their collective achievements mean patients, doctors, pharmacists and clinicians can place their trust in the 2.5 billion e-prescriptions, including 204.1 million CancelRx Requests and 34.6 million RxChange Requests, that were sent across the Surescripts network in 2023.

Since establishing E-Prescribing more than two decades ago, Surescripts continues to advance electronic prescribing. Innovations like Sig IQ technology was developed to translate the free-text patient directions found on every prescription into a quality-controlled, clinically validated format. The result? The prescriber’s intended course of treatment is protected and patient safety is improved.

This capability was originally developed to enhance medication histories, but now Sig IQ has also expanded to add a Structured & Codified Sig to 1.4 million RxRenewal Requests sent by pharmacies in the last quarter of 2023, allowing prescribers to approve these requests in fewer keystrokes. Ultimately, it means prescribers and pharmacists are spending less time clarifying the prescriber’s intent and more time focused on what matters most – the patients in their care.

And it goes back to trust – an essential component for driving innovation that fulfils our purpose of helping healthcare heal itself. It is the foundation that will support our ongoing work to advance technologies to provide clinical insights in real-time and cost intelligence that dramatically improves the lives of patients and those who care for them—today and for generations to come.
